Best Of Both Worlds

I have taken my boys on many fishing and hiking adventures over the summer and this feels comfortable like a sneaker but durable like a boot. Best of both worlds.

True To Size, But Toe-box Is Far Too Small

I was very excited to get these shoes and really wanted to like them. I've bought a half dozen pairs of Merrell shoes over the years and previously had a pair of the Merrell low cut Alpine sneaker and they were so comfortable that I wore them until they practically fell off my feet. Unfortunately I can't endorse these shoes. They have two fatal flaws. The first and least is that the waterproofing is such that my feet sweat like crazy, even in cold weather. The stench when I take them off causes my wife to complain. That could be because I'm wearing too thin of a sock, but that leads me to the second problem: the construction of the shoe. I've loved the padding of the insole and the EVA foam outsole with no plastic shank that Merrell builds. The problem here, contrary to what others might say, is not the sizing. These are true to size, but the toe-box is built way too tight to accommodate the insole. Wearing anything except a light, non-hiking sock puts extreme pressure on my big toes. Sadly, I cannot recommend this shoe and I don't think my next pair of hiking shoes will come from Merrell. I can't return them as I got them from Amazon and my trying to break them in makes them unreturnable anyway. I'm thinking about trying the Ridgemont Scapes next.

Not My Type Of Shoe

Meh, lightweight, the size runs small. Toes feel cramped. Hoping for a better fit like the nova 3’s. Feet hurt after wearing these for more than an hour.

Leaky Shoe

I wore these daily for a two week training. Waterproof didn’t last more than a week and a half before it started leaking. Very disappointed because the shoe is comfortable.

So Comfortable

These shoes are amazingly comfortable. I love them and would love to have given 5 stars. However, the loop on the back ripped while putting them on in just the first week of having them. I thought about contacting customer service but decided against it. The shoes are still comfortable and function and I wasn’t sure what would happen to them if I was able to exchange them. I really love these shoes.

Size Up - Amazingly Comfortable

I’m a size 12 through and through, but these in the same size were tight. The toe box is smaller than normal. Also you need to take into account feet swelling and perhaps thicker socks. I wore these for the first time all day hiking around Grand Cyn Village. I was surprised there was no uncomfortable rubbing or stiffness which is very common with new hiking shoes. I was very impressed!

Awful Quality

literally the very first time I put these on The pull tab on the back of the shoe snaps off. clearly terrible quality

I Love These Shoes.

Love my new Alpine 83 Sneaker Recraft Mid Waterproof. I live in a location where we get rain, snow and sunshine. These shoes are very comfy and they work well in the snow and ice. The waterproof feature is great.

Dry, Comfy, Warm, Not Slippery

Took my Merrells to a winter trip to Amsterdam, Netherlands, when it was raining heavily, was windy, and cold. The sneakers showed it best performance - one week walking a lot in the city, my feet were dry, warm, comfy (and my knees were comfy too - love the sneaker's bouncy soil!), and never slipped, even on wet cobble stones. Love and recommend the shoes!

Hmm..

We got these in the mail and husbands first time trying on the loops ripped on the back! Emailed & not no response but very disappointed because they’re so nice.

Poor Assembly Quality

While I was putting the boot on, it ripped! The quality of merrell produced have significantly gone downhill over the years. I’ve had multiple pairs of boots/shoes over the years and love to support a local company, I can’t contribute to poorly made products anymore.

Comfortable, But Sacrificed Quality

I'm a bit disappointed with the quality of these. I am a die hard Merrell fan, haven't owned another brand in about 20 years. I went to put these on, and the loop on the heel broke off immediately on both shoes. It makes me worry they are sacrificing quality, while keeping the cost the same. Other than that, they look great and are very comfortable! Size was on point, and the support is great, more support on the inner middle part of the foot

Comfy

Very comfortable once I found the right size. I had to size up a half size from my normal size as the toe box was squeezing my toes. Half size up and they fit like a glove. The retro hiker style is a plus.
